Narrative Therapy is based on the idea that the stories we tell about ourselves shape how we see the world, our relationships, and what we believe is possible. Sometimes those stories get tangled up with pain, shame, or other people’s expectations until they start to feel like absolute truth. Narrative Therapy helps you step back and look at your story with fresh eyes.
Together, you and your therapist explore the events and experiences that have shaped your identity and find the places where your story could be rewritten. It’s not about denying what happened but about understanding that you have more authorship over your life than you might think.

This approach can be especially helpful if you feel defined by your past or stuck in a certain role that no longer fits. It can support people who are working through:
Trauma or loss
Low self worth or shame
Identity changes or life transitions
Relationship challenges
Anxiety or depression
Feeling stuck in old patterns or labels
Narrative Therapy gives you room to separate yourself from the problem so you can see it for what it is, not who you are. That shift alone can be powerful.
Narrative Therapy isn’t about sitting through a list of questions or following a strict plan. It’s a conversation where you and your therapist explore the stories that have shaped how you see yourself and the world around you. Sometimes that happens in person, sometimes online, but the focus stays the same — creating space for reflection, curiosity, and understanding.
You’ll look at the parts of your story that feel heavy or limiting and start to see the strength and meaning that have always been there. Over time, the old stories start to loosen their grip and new ones begin to take shape. Sessions are 60 minutes long and move at your pace, following whatever feels most important that day.

At Healing Journey, Narrative Therapy is a space to explore how your story has been shaped and what parts of it you want to carry forward. We’re not rewriting your life for you, we’re helping you uncover the version that feels real and empowering. Together, we’ll look at how certain experiences have influenced your voice and what might need to shift so you can start telling your story on your own terms.
This kind of work is creative, honest, and sometimes surprising. You might find strength in places you thought were only pain, or notice moments that quietly shaped who you’ve become. If you’re ready to look at your story in a new way and see what else might be possible, reach out and we can start there.
